Enterprise Linux Essentials
Course Description:
Linux Essentials 1: The Basics introduces course participants to the fundamental concepts, commands and functionality of Linux. Students will learn about Linux files and directories on a hard drive, how Linux handles multiple users, and how to navigate and manipulate the filesystem.
Linux Essentials 2: Shells, Text Processing, Processes is the second course in the RH033: Red Hat Linux Essentials Series. The course explores the concepts of shell and process control. Students will learn to work with the bash shell and use various utilities and commands for manipulating strings and editing text, including using string processing utilities and editing files using the vi editor.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Navigate and use Linux file and directory system
- Gather and use users, groups, and system Information
- Explain and implement file and directory access permissions
- Work with the bash shell
- Use common string processing commands for string manipulation
- Use the vi editor for editing text
- Use process control commands to control processes
Prerequisites:
- Experience with Linux is not required, however course participants should have basic computer literacy and some experience with Microsoft Windows or another operating system.
