Introduction to PHP 5

Course Description:

This course is designed to teach beginning programmers how to take advantage of PHP's excellent web development capabilities. Students will gain a solid background in the language, learning how to use all of its major features and functions, including variables, operators, functions, and flow control.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Write effective PHP programs for common system-administration tasks
• Use the POST and GET methods to submit a form's data to CGI programs
• Take advantage of regular expressions--even in other languages
• Understand, use, and modify PHP programs written by other people
• Create quick, one-liner programs for simple everyday tasks

Prerequisites:

• Basic programming experience
• Experience running simple programs

• PHP 5 or later (free download)
• A Web browser of your choice
